Where’d You Go???
“Where’d You Go?
Where have all the good guys gone
Who give everything everything they’ve got
With their hearts of gold and fists of stone
Whom you count on no matter what.Where have all the good girls gone
Who embrace their femininity
And never let you feel alone
And love you to infinityWhere have all the families gone
Where the hearth and love light glow
No matter where or how you roam
For love, acceptance, there you goWhere have all the Christians gone
Whose hearts are full and free
To whom His grace and mercy shown
Shine the light and bend the kneeWhere’d you get to
Where’ve you gone
And isn’t it time you
Got back home”
“Sentimental hogwash.”
These are the calloused words of old Mr. Potter in Frank Capra’s timeless Christmas classic, It’s a Wonderful Life.
I have never believed sentimental is hogwash. We have memories for reasons:
-
They inform us when we seek our path.
-
They warn us when we start to stray.
-
They warm us when we feel lost or alone.
For me, today is the first workday of 2021.
It is also my only grandchild’s sixteenth birthday.
I have reason to look back and ahead. I also have this moment, this brand new year, to learn, to love, to live” to remember”
No Place like home”
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam
Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home
A charm from the skies seems to hallow us there
Which seek thro’ the world, is ne’er met elsewhere
Home! Home!
Sweet, sweet home!
There’s no place like home
There’s no place like home!
Cheers to a new year, fresh hope, and mercies renewed every morning! Fare thee well and godspeed.
