a Valentine

For DONYA
Sometime I sign things
“All My Love”
Which is exactly true
For what I have
And what I want
And what I give
To you
But all my love
Is not enough
You deserve
All of that
And then some
So, I’ve still work to do
Happy Valentine’s Day
–Gene, 2/14/26
And for the rest of you—
I pray that love will find you, for it is always better to be found by love than to find it. When love holds you, it doesn’t let go, but when you hold love, your grasp may weaken with time or slip by distraction.
Because of Christ, we know what it means to be found by love—to be sought, pursued, wooed, and showered with tokens of Divine Affection. I pray love finds your embrace and holds you against that day of days—when what we have believed we will behold.
Let’s lift some verses from God’s Valentine…
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. –John 3:16
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. –Romans 5:8
We love him, because he first loved us. –1 John 4:19
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God… –1 John 3:1
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. –Jeremiah 31:3
I used the King James Version because it is unmatched in beauty and it is the language of love I first learned as a boy and that has made all the difference in my life. And now, one of the greatest hymns ever penned, and the last chocolate in my Valentine to you…
THE LOVE OF GOD by Frederick Lehman (1917) The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell; it goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell; the guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, and pardoned from his sin. Refrain: O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure: the saints’ and angels’ song! 2 When years of time shall pass away and earthly thrones and kingdoms fall, when men who here refuse to pray, on rocks and hills and mountains call, God’s love so pure shall still endure, all measureless and strong; redeeming grace to Adam's race— the saints’ and angels’ song. [Refrain] 3 Could we with ink the ocean fill and were the skies of parchment made, were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill and ev’ry man a scribe by trade, to write the love of God above would drain the ocean dry; nor could the scroll contain the whole, tho' stretched from sky to sky. O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure: the saints’ and angels’ song!
All My Love!
